Ernst Middendorp Online
Dear
supporters,
I have officially been in
my new job for four days now. I have finally settled down and I
am grateful to Jessica (Motaung) and the team for providing me with
all the necessary support in my first days here. Actually I feel
like I have been here for one year already.
It was great meeting all the players at our first training session
on Monday. The players have been away on holiday for three to five
weeks and the first thing we had to work on was their fitness and
I am one hundred percent sure that they will adapt if we give them
the right push.
We have to do all the physical preparation now
because once the season starts there won’t be much time for
that. The league programme is so tight that we will be playing Wednesdays
and Saturdays or Sundays. The players understand the task that lies
ahead of us and I can see they want to work and they want to play.
They are really focused.
I know and understand that most of you want to
know about the players who will be released. But I think it’s very important at this
stage not to talk about that. It’s very important for me to
give all the players a fair chance in pre-season and see how they
adapt. Our understanding within the club is that we should be ready
to talk about these matters in two weeks after we have seen all the
players in action.
The fact that Collins might leave for the UK
is not news to me. I knew for a while that he would probably leave
the club and I came here prepared for that. Reports indicate that
he is no longer a Kaizer Chiefs player. But it’s still a process
before the deal can be finalised and anything can happen.
You will recall we signed a player (Cephas Chimedza) from Zimbabwe
and all the paper work was done but he is not here. To me Collins
is still our player but I must make other options in case his deal
goes through. No doubt he is a quality player but I am positive that
we will be able to do the job without him should he leave.
Our immediate challenge is the Vodacom Challenge and I know how important
this competition is. We play AS Vita in the first match and we will
make special preparations for that. We will reduce the programme two
days before this match and I am sure the players can handle it.
Questions about who is Ernst Middendorp are not
really important for me at this stage. I think it’s only fair to be judged on
our performance on the field. I have been in this business long enough
all over the world and I know what I am doing. Honestly it’s
very difficult for me to talk about who Ernst Middendorp is.
My technical team should share the mentality
I have, and the players should also have the same. And I sure Kaizer
has the same mentality. It’s all about winning, winning and winning and we must be focused
all the time whether it’s a preparation match, league match
or cup match. All the players irrespective of who is in the starting
eleven should be focused. The players must understand that it’s
important to be focused to win if you want to be successful. That’s
my philosophy.
Before I came here there was a culture and a
set playing pattern. We will not change that. With the players having
been successful in the last two seasons, there’s no need to
change a playing pattern and we will definitely be playing 4-4-2.
Till next time.
Love and Peace!
